Denver, CO

Denver International Airport (DEN) is the largest airport in the US by land size. It also has the longest public runway in the nation. And although the terrain around the airport is flat, Denver itself backs up to the Rocky Mountains and sudden gusts of crosswind from the mountain range can sometimes affect this Mile-High airport.

Denver, CO Business Background

In 1993, DEN was scheduled to complete major renovations. Its tent-dome spires were reminiscent of the nearby Rocky Mountains and while they were aesthetically pleasing, they didn’t survive a blizzard in 2003. And the automated baggage and cargo delivery system that was supposed to move luggage and freight from the planes to the terminals and vice versa without human contact was a disaster. This system has been abandoned and the old method of moving freight and luggage is back in place. And further positive notes include the underground train system that connects the terminals runs efficiently and has been a success.
